Winner Bonaccord Prize in Intellectual Property Law 2017/2018 University of Stirling

Each year, the University of Stirling offers a number of prizes to students to recognize their achievement at the highest level. Bonaccord is delighted to sponsor the prize for the top performing student in Intellectual Property Law. This year’s winner is Michael McKitrick.

Michael discovered he had a particular interest in intellectual property after studying a range of different areas of law in his first three years at Stirling University. When asked about his thoughts on Intellectual property, he said “I like the idea of working in an exciting, forward-thinking industry and helping to protect clients’ valuable IP. I would like to help safeguard new innovative technologies and products and help them on their way to market. Dr Kimberley Barker at Stirling University helped me achieve a really good score for the IP module and this presented the fantastic opportunity to meet with Patricia Barclay of Bonaccord. I learned about the interesting work Bonaccord does and I aspire to build a career in this specialist industry. Patricia’s invaluable advice and her stories motivated and inspired me to work extremely hard to be as successful as possible in my honours year at Stirling and in my future career in law.”

Patricia added “ Michael is an extraordinarily talented young man with a real enthusiasm for how the law can be used in practice.  I thoroughly enjoyed meeting with him and was impressed at the breadth of his reading around the subject.   Am confident he will be a real asset to the profession in the future”
